BANGALORE: It is official. The design and development of India’s first Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) will be carried out by a joint venture between a state-owned aerospace company and a consortium of industries.
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) director, general Samir K Brahmachari told DNA that the RTA, whose development has been actively pursued by the government to enhance air connectivity between tier-II and tier-III cities with the major metros, will be a joint venture between defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and a consortium of industries…..

BANGALORE: Experts of the aviation sector gathered at the stakeholders’ conference on ‘Sector Skill Council for Aerospace – Aviation’ said there should be more efforts to meet the increasing demand for skilled employees in the sector.
The conference, organised by the Bangalore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCIC) and the Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries, took note of the shortage of skilled employees and explored the ways to meet the increasing demands of the sector.
Lambasting the mindset of desk jobs in front of computers, National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) Director A R Upadhya said only a few engineers, passing out of colleges, were interested in testing. Suggesting on the job training as a measure to fix this problem, he said that the quality of graduates from engineering institutions was a matter of concern………

BANGALORE: The National Innovation Council (NIC), which is entrusted with preparing a roadmap for the decade of innovation (2010-2020), has asked the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to scale up Hamsa, the air-propelled ferry system.

India’s state-run National Aerospace Laboratory will work with Kadet Defense Systems to develop NAL’s Hansa trainer aircraft into an unmanned aerial vehicle.
The Hansa is built by Taneja Aerospace and Aviation for NAL and uses Indian-made composite material but mostly imported aeronautic electronics…
