IITR refutes Lucknow ‘most polluted’ report

13 December 2015

LUCKNOW: Raising doubts over the air quality index of Lucknow in report released.. recently by the Central Pollution Control Board, the Indian Institute of Toxicology Research on Saturday said calculating it on the basis of data of merely three locations and then attributing it to the entire city was not right. Speaking to TOI, IITR director Alok Dhawan said the data must be put in the right perspective, and only then be interpreted. He added, the median method of calculation is preferred as it takes into account the geographical and environmental factors, while the mean method simply takes out the mathematical average.
