LUCKNOW: She had heard the story of ‘sanjeevani booti’ (life-giving herb) from her grandmother, but little Rea Tewary never knew she would get a chance to see it or get the feel of it too. “I always thought it must be a fictional entity. It’s good to see it actually,” said the student of class VI. The small-leaved shrub placed neatly at CSIR stall at Lucknow Mahotsav intrigued the girl into wondering if the plant actually had lifesaving properties as claimed in the story of Ramayan. “It is a herb associated with curative properties for problems like stroke and nervous disorders. But, studies to ascertain the therapeutic aspects are on and anything conclusive can be said only after the result is out,” explained Pradeep K Srivastava, principal scientist of Central Drug Research Institute……
