Creating a world record in chemistry research, and that too in emerging research in renewable energy is not a child’s play, for it demands the best in class infrastructure, complex approval process and above all, an unflinching focus and teamwork. Dr Malapaka Chandrasekaram and Dr Surya Prakash, two city-based scientists working at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), have set a world record in achieving the highest recorded efficiency in a special type of solar cell. The flexible, low-cost emerging type of solar technology had so far a record efficiency of 11.1, which was overtaken by the duo’s work to 11.4 per cent…..
