Day 1 of BRT survey proves corridor recipe for chaos

NEW DELHI: The futility of BRT corridor got exposed on the very first day of the survey — ordered by the Delhi High Court — on the utility of the stretch between Ambedkar Nagar and Moolchand intersections.

On Friday, Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) started a pilot study on the need for changing the signalling pattern on the route from manual to automatic during peak hour.

The CRRI exercise led to an unprecedented traffic jam in peak hours between 8.30 am and 10.30 am, forcing the Delhi Traffic Police to issue an advisory to avoid the corridor. Commuters on the BRT corridor would face this problem for the next 15 days of the survey…..
