Use white toppingfor roads: Scientist

Engineers of the Municipal Corporation were given a presentation on the new techniques available for the construction of roads. Binod Kumar, a scientist from the Central Road Research Institute, made the presentation.

Kumar said white topping should be used for construction of the roads. Instead of laying of roads of bitumen, those of concrete could be laid. With white topping, the temperature of the city would come down by around two degrees. The life of the road would be around 30 years while those made of concrete are to be recarpeted every five years. The cost of the road, however, increases by 25 per cent…..
