‘Monsoon forecast in India is a complex phenomenon’

PUNE: “Monsoon forecast in the country is a very complex phenomenon as it involves a number of factors, including how changes in climatic patterns elsewhere in the world affect southwest monsoon in India. There is a need to understand monsoon forecast and dissemination of information among the public in simple language,” said Sikandar M Jamadar, scientific assistant, India Meteorological Department, Pune, on Monday.

He was speaking to reporters at the press meet to announce the annual workshop on monsoon and Prof Pisharoty Distinguished Lecture, organised by the Indian Meteorology Society, Pune chapter, at the National Chemical Laboratory between 9 am and 4.30 pm on December 21…….
