The search for better materials for the LHC

PUNE: With the rate of data collection to be increased by a factor of 20 at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the next 10 years, researchers are now looking for new materials that will be less sensitive to radiation exposure. Leading this research is Ashutosh Kotwal, particle physicist, Duke University, North Carolina. He was recently in Pune to discuss the details of a proposed collaboration with the National Chemical Laboratory, (NCL) Pune, a constituent laboratory of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on this aspect of materials research….
