NIO experts take samples for analysis

MARGAO: In line with the methods of treatment suggested by BITS-Pilani experts to clean up the wells at Comba that are suspected to be contaminated, a team of researchers from the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) took samples of water from the polluted wells on Monday to carry out further analysis in that regard.

Confirming this, Salcete sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Johnson Fernandes said further analysis was necessitated to decide on the methods of treatment.

“It’s a continuation of the treatment process. On our invitation, the NIO team took some samples of the affected wells for analysis. I am likely to get the report of the tests next week,” Fernandes told TOI ……
