Get to know about mechanical trouble in a jiffy

Imagine being in an aeroplane or, inside a tank during a military operation, and there’s some malfunction which you cannot detect. Now, a sensor will do the job for you and also send the information to ground staff for help. This has been made possible by a fiber optic sensor which can scan any malfunction in machinery.

Devised by Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO) in Chandigarh for defence application, the technology has now also found its utility in detecting explosions on any structure including bridges and buildings. The scientific organisation has been sponsored by the DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization) for making these sensors based on fiber optics….
