Vasvik award for NCL scientist

PUNE: National Chemical Laboratory scientist Absar Ahmad has been honoured with the prestigious Vasvik research award in the area of biological sciences and technology for his significant contribution to nanoscience and nanotechnology. The Vasvik award is given for promotion of industrial research, science and technology in India.

A statement released by the NCL said, “Absar Ahmed has made pioneering contributions to the field of bionanoscience and technology.In particular, his work on bio-inspired synthesis of metal, semiconductor and oxide nano systems using fungal and plant extract media and related studies on elucidation and control of the biomolecular processes and mechanisms are highly cited. His work on synthesis of triangular gold nanoparticles has been transferred to Tata Chemicals Ltd and is in use.”
